Original celadon jar with handle

Original celadon jar with handle. This jar was unearthed from a Longshan stone chamber tomb, wheel-made, with a straight mouth, bulging belly, flat bottom, and a hand-pinched base. A bull's horn-shaped handle is attached to the abdomen. The inner wall is decorated with string patterns, and a week of interconnected double-hooked "S" patterns is incised on the upper abdomen, which is a common decoration in primitive celadon. The entire surface is coated with celadon glaze, the glaze layer is relatively thin, the glazing is relatively uniform, the glaze color is excellent, and the glass texture is strong.

Primitive celadon is a product of the early stage of porcelain. It first appeared in the Shang Dynasty. The origin of Chinese celadon is the Wu and Yue regions, not the Central Plains. "Southern green and northern white" represents the characteristics of southern porcelain as celadon and northern porcelain as white porcelain. According to literature records, white porcelain originated in the Han Dynasty, so it is more than a thousand years later than celadon. Celadon represents the characteristics of Wu culture, and the more developed southern handicraft and commerce than the north also has historical origins.
