Introduction to the Helu City
Distinguished guests, hello! Welcome to the Helu City Ruins Museum! The Helu City ruins are the capital city of King Helu of Wu, one of the Five Hegemons of the Spring and Autumn period. The city was initially constructed in the first year of King Helu's reign (the sixth year of King Jing of Zhou, 514 BC), and it has a history of over 2500 years. As early as 1956, the Helu City ruins were listed as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit by the Jiangsu Provincial Government; in 2008, the site was identified as the capital city of King Helu of Wu during the Spring and Autumn period, and it was named as one of the "Top 10 Archaeological Discoveries in China in 2008". In 2011, the Helu City ruins were selected as a "Major Archaeological Site in Jiangsu". In March 2013, it was named as the seventh batch of "National Key Cultural Relic Protection Units" by the State Council. In December of the same year, it was announced by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage as a national archaeological site park project unit.
